Friendly Temperament
Known as "gentle geniuses" for their intuitive, patient and highly social nature, Groodles are exceptionally family-friendly and typically get along well with children and other pets.
Groodle Features
A cross between the clever Poodle and the affectionate Golden Retriever, the Groodle brings together the very best of both, here's what makes them so special.
The Best of Both Worlds
A Groodle (sometimes called a Goldendoodle outside Australia) is a crossbreed between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. These puppies are loved for their "teddy bear" looks and a personality that combines the Golden Retriever's gentle, playful warmth with the Poodle's intelligence and low to non shedding coat.
I'm always happy to chat through any of these details, just get in touch.
Key Characteristics
Known as "gentle geniuses" for their intuitive, patient and highly social nature, Groodles are exceptionally family-friendly and typically get along well with children and other pets.
Energetic and playful, Groodles love to exercise, and they're equally as happy to cuddle on the couch, great companions for families of all ages.
Ranking among the smartest dog breeds, they're eager to please and generally easy to train, making them an excellent choice for first-time owners. Groodles can be trained as therapy, assistance and companion dogs.
Groodles have "hybrid vigour", where crossbred offspring tend to be healthier and more resilient than their purebred parents. All parents are fully health tested, inclusive of hip/elbow scoring, temperaments assessed and genetic DNA testing, and are clear of any breed-specific genetic diseases.
Groodles are popular for being low to non shedding, a major benefit for allergy sufferers and families who don't want their home covered in dog hair.
Groodle puppies have a soft, fluffy coat that changes to their adult coat around 6 to 14 months, low to non shedding. More on the two adult coat types below.
Beautiful Coats
A Groodle puppy's soft, fluffy coat settles into one of two adult coat types between 6 and 14 months old.
Soft, loose and wavy hair, often described as having a silky texture.
Similar to a sheep or poodle, this coat is curly and dense.
Groodles also come in a beautiful range of colours, from rich apricot and red to cream, parti and silver.
Sizes
I breed three Groodle sizes, each suited to a different home and lifestyle.
Day to Day
A weekly brush and a trip to the groomer every 6–8 weeks keeps that gorgeous coat soft, comfortable and tangle-free.
A daily walk plus some playtime in the yard is usually plenty to keep a Groodle happy, settled, and out of mischief.
Their sharp minds and eagerness to please make Groodles a joy to train, positive reward-based methods work beautifully.
Groodles thrive on company and connection, they're true velcro dogs who love being wherever their people are.
